Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is the third best-selling game in Nintendo’s history

Nintendo’s recent financial data was published today and you will most likely be surprised to learn that Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, an enhanced port of the Wii U original, is now Nintendo’s third best-selling video game ever. That means that it has even overtaken masterpieces such as Super Mario 64, The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, Super Mario Galaxy, and more. The two Nintendo games which have sold more than Mario Kart 8 Deluxe are Super Mario Bros. (NES) and Wii Sports (Wii). Nintendo also revealed that the game is now the best-selling Mario Kart game as it has recently overtaken the previous leader, Mario Kart Wii. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe has shifted 38.74 and Mario Kart Wii sold a life-time total of 37.38. These figures do not include Mario Kart 8 as Nintendo lists both Mario Kart 8 (Wii U) and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe (Switch) as separate entries.
